This work is, in part, autobiographical. After spending two years living and working in Thailand I returned to Australia and felt a great need to reconnect with the landscape. Setting up a studio on the family farm which has been worked for generations, I was inspired by familiar objects - dozens of tractors in various moods, the odd truck and other farm machinery inhabiting the landscape. Inanimate they are not; more like old mates, some like Big Red, to be revered, others watching a good sunset and waiting to be inspired to greatness. This exhibition is also a tribute to pop and dad (Kenny) who work tirelessly. Craig Waddell 2004 |
